Olives and Bats

Me and some of my girlfriends had one of our girl lunches this past saturday. For some reason we always go to Olive Garden, but I don't mind because I can never get enough of their breadsticks and salad which is what I ususally get. We had an awesome time, except for a table of superly loud obnoxious women who wouldn't stop laughing, so we attempted to mimic them and laugh louder but sadly could not.me, Aly, Elise, Kelly, Rachel
After we ate we sat outside the restaurant and just talked for almost an hour. We saw some interesting people too, like an entire men's soccer team from canada. One of the players got Aly's number, and even called her that night but she figured it wasn't worth hanging out with them in the end. Then a family came out and Elise noticed something in the Dad's shirt pocket. It was the CUTEST tiniest miniature dauchsaund. He probably only weighed 10-12 ounces and was the most darling little thing ever. So, we totally acted like girls and a flood of "awwwwws!" made the guy turn around and he pulled the little guy out and let us pet him. They said the momma died 2 days after she had her litter, and 3 of the other pups died, and I don't remember how many were left but he was the only one who was not doing so hot. So, they bring him around everywhere with them because they really don't want him to die. I wish I'd gotten a picture because words seriously cannot describe how cute it was!
Later that night Aly and I went to go and see The Dark Knight which I have been excited about since I saw the first movie 3 years ago! We got there 45 minutes before our movie and there was still a huge line, but luckily we still got really good seats. I know I'm going to sound like a total loser but I am such a huge Batman fan, and always have been. To me he was always the coolest superhero, and this movie is hands down the best Batman movie ever created! And Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker was amazing. It's so sad that such a talented actor died so young, but his last movie is going down in the history books, I heard it made $155 million the first weekend it came out! If anyone is into action superhero movies definitely see this one!

"All women become like their mothers;that is their tragedy. No man does; that's his."

Tonight I felt the urge to just write exactly how I'm feeling. Yes, I'm going to just have "diarrhea of the mouth" if you will through typing spill onto my blog without stopping to edit myself. It's been a not so good day for me to begin with. I woke up at 3 AM with a gut wrenching horrible stomach ache and I prayed for the sweet relief of just getting sick and getting it out not caring in what way, but sadly nothing ever came for me. So, I had a horrible night of sleep and woke up this morning feeling tired, sick, and really just kind of wanting my Mom. Waking up hugging the body pillow wishing it was my husband also made me want to cry this morning.
The need to do so much with getting my nursery started and cleaning the house which to me feels like it's never clean seemed looming over my head like a big black cloud and I honestly didn' t feel like doing any of it today! So I decided to just get up and get ready and headed to my parent's house and put all the things I need/should do on the backburner just for today.
A blessing from above came in the form of my employer calling me to tell me that she didn't need me to watch her kids today. JOY! I was honestly in no mood of any sort to do so anyway and was dreading it since I woke up this morning, so I appreciated the fact that my decision to have a pity me party day was now an official all day affair.
My Mom and I had dinner together since my Dad went up to SLC for dinner for work and she just read my mind and we went straight to Wendy's and had a junk food fest. JUST what I needed! Funny how Moms know these things; I really hope I can pick up that trait with my little boy!
Anywho...don't really know what sparked this horrible day but boy am I glad it's almost over! Well ok that was a total lie I know exactly what spurred it and caused a snowball effect. First, the fact that I miss my husband so terribly that I ache for him. I have had to physically force myself not to make one of those countdown chains for the day that he comes home in the end of August because if I count down days..it makes it worse and slower. Second, my Mom's second round of chemo is a week away and I'm getting more and more anxious each day that brings it closer. Third, I realized tonight that sometimes friends who you thought you had aren't as invested in your friendship as maybe you are and that sometimes you just have to accept the fact that people do change sometimes and although you want them in your life still that sometimes you just no longer fit into theirs. I really try to be loving to everyone around me, and although things have happend that make me very very sad I will continue to be loving to people around me, even if they don't give me the same respect in return. I would want to be treated with love above all else, so I'm going to give as much as I possibly can!
Enough of my sob story...I just feel like everyone deserves a good horrible day every once in a while where you can just truly have pity for yourself and stew in your unhappiness. But, tomorrow I need to just wake up knowing it's going to be a good day! I am so incredibly grateful for my amazing family who has put up with not on the sick cranky pregnant me this summer, but the sad lonely me missing Jess all the time. How patient they have been with me, and not to mention loving. It's been quite a hard summer for us all but I feel like our family bond has strengthened tremendously throughout the trials we've faced in just a mere matter of months. Like I blogged about a few months ago, my favorite quote still is "Be not faithless , but believing." Beautiful words that have become my daily mantra.
I cannot wait for tomorow! It's going to be a beautiful amazing day, and all thought of this horrible ugly one will be far behind me.

4th of July & last weekend with Jess

The rest of my trip visiting Jess was so much fun, and I didn't want to leave. I thought I was bad the first time leaving..ohhh noo...it was 200 times worse this time! I was a hysterical mess at the airport, so much so that people were staring at me! haha..but we have just over a month and a half left until Jess comes home for good so we're almost there!!
Our 4th of July was alot less eventful than last summer when we went to downtown DC. It was so much fun, and we ended up almost being arrested and we were run down by cops in front of the Capital. What can I say? That's how we roll!
So we had a more relaxing day this time. Jess and I slept in and then headed to the pool for a couple of hours. We both are reading good books so got really into them and poor Jess was a lobster!! I luckily didn't burn, but I felt so bad for Jess :(
After the pool we had our own little BBQ on Jess' balcony which was amazingly good. Jess makes the BEST burgers everr..I'm not lying you should try one if you ever get the chance! Once we were done eating we headed out to see some fireworks. We had planned on going to this huge bash called the "star spangled spectacular", but couldn't get anywhere near it because traffic was so bad. So, we instead found a random huge open field, and set up camp. Our friends Chris and Steph joined us and we had a blast meeting random people who also decided that field was a good spot. The fireworks were great, and from where we sat we could also see two other fireworks displays from two other nearby cities! So we saw 3 shows! Gotta love it.The next night Jess and I went to a T-Bones game. They're the semi pro baseball team in Kansas City and their games are so much fun. We had really good seats in the front row in Left field.
My poor back couldn't take more than 6 innings in those seats, so we walked around the entire stadium and ended up just watching the final innings from Center field right above the Bull Pens. The T-Bones lost but it was a really close game. Right after the game was done they shut off all the lights and had a fireworks show! I never get sick of them.
After the game we headed across the street to the new Legends mall that was just built there. It's a huge outdoor mall that is absolutely amazing! They were building it when my parents still lived there, soI haven't seen it until now. We had fun exploring alot of hands on exhibits that are just scattered throughout the mall, and enjoying the atmosphere.

All in all it was such a fun trip! And now I am counting down the days until Jess makes the trek back home for good! But for now, I'm going to keep myself as busy as possible and my number one project right now is the nursery!! I'll post pics as soon as something is really started on it.

Things I Love

While I am sitting here doing nothing today I thought I'd post on some of my favorite things as of late. It's kinda cloudy and nasty out so I can't go to the pool today, and Jess doesn't have a t.v and I've already watched all the DVDs he has soooo needless to say I can't wait until he gets home !!

Anywho...during my pregnancy I have discovered amazing ways to stay in shape! Yoga being one of my favorites, I found this DVD that I like, but there are sooo many to choose from it was really hard to pick. Ultimately , I picked this one because it was on sale, yeah, I'm cheap like that haha! It's a really good 50 min session of yoga and they have three women to show you how to do the moves in every tri-mester which I thought was really cool. They all have silly "hippie" names like Poppy and whatnot but it's definitely worth my while!
I also happened upon this other workout DVD by Gabrielle Reece. For those of you who don't know who she is, she was a model/AMAZING volleyball player and is married to the famous surfer Laird Hamilton. When I found this one I about screamed out with joy! Not only is she one of my idols of volleyball, she's one hot mama!
She goes through and does month by month workouts so that you have something to do for your first 6 months of pregnancy. I love it, especially on those days when I just do not feel like taking myself to the actual gym, I just pop this baby in and get a perfectly good workout and I am so sore afterwards! She does an especially good tush workout:)
And finally, I thought I'd write about the latest book I've been reading. It's "The Historian" by Elizabeth Kostova. For those of your who enjoyed the "Twilight" series you might enjoy this vampire novel as well. I will warn you though it's not quite as cutesie and lovie-dovie as Twilight, it's actually quite dark and gory in comparison. I am really enjoying it, and in my 3 days of having it have already read almost 300 of the 910 or so pages in the book! So, for any of you looking for a good read while awaiting "Breaking Dawn" in August, you might want to pick this one up!
