AHHH Kansas City

I apologize for not blogging in such a long time! It has been pretty hectic around here.Firstly, we did find renters for our house yay!!! A young couple with a one year old daughter from SoCal who need to get out of cali because the economy is so terrible esp in cali right now. (Don't blame em one bit for booking it!) Anywho, they moved in this past saturday and Jess and I were speed demons and completely moved out in three days!
Before all that though, Jess' family came out to celebrate and take part in Jess' brothers baby blessing for his son Trevon Rees Butikofer. We were so excited to see everyone, especially our Seattle fam (who's baby was being blessed) because we never ever get to see them!
Jess and Sam with their little buddies!

Calvin looks like a total monster compared to adorable Trevon! (They are about 2 weeks apart)They were so cute and holding hands alot, but I couldn't ever get a picture of it! Oh well :)
Here's the update on Big Snack. He passed 4 mos on March 20!! Here are his stats:
Weight: 15.11 lbs
Height: 25 1/2 "
I can't remember his head circumpherence off the top of my head, but oh well.
His eyes are hazel-they are so pretty! And his hair gets lighter every single day- I think he'll be a blondie after all! He is 75% for everything! Still a bigggg kid!
He is currently getting over an ear infection and a really bad bronchial like virus that was SO TERRIBLE. Poor baby was so sick but some meds have been doing him just fine.
He loves loves loves to babble! He and I have conversations all day long- people in public probably think I am nuts but talking to him is so fun!The other day clear as a bell he said "dada" while looking at Jess, and we have tried to get him to say it again, but think it was just a coincidence! Would have been so awesome though!
He can almost roll over, he is so close I just know he'll do it so soon. But he has devised another way of moving around by digging his feet in the ground and pushing backwards while on his back. I will put him down somewhere and come back and he's a foot away from where I left him!
He can hold his head up so well, and can sit in a bumbo seat by himself without falling over, but he has decided that the bumbo seat is the plague or something and always tries to get out of it. He'll get his one foot on the ground and push and push until pretty much almost falling! So, he needs to be closely supervised when in it.
Overall he is such a sweet baby boy. He cooes and will just love you with his sparkly eyes all day long. He loves to be sung to, and rocked to sleep, especially by Daddy. I feel like I am the center of his world, but then as soon as he sees Daddy-it's all over that's who he wants! He is always smiling and has the CUTEST laugh (he even snorts here and there when laughing which makes it a million times cuter) I am amazed watching his motor skills forming. He can grab and pick things up to put in his mouth now and is really watching things around him and studying them! Babies are simply amazing.

Well, as I am writing this we are in Kansas City, Ks. We arrived late last night after a two day trek from utah that was not so fun. We hit major snowdrifting in Wyoming between Little America and Laramie at midnight. The roads were sheer ice and between the snow falling and the snow being blown around I couldn't see. I was white knuckling the steering wheel and crying and praying the entire time until we got to Laramie at 3 am. Needless to say, after that night driving was smoothe sailing ( well the weather anyway). Calvin had HAD it with the car the second day. He pretty much screamed his cute little head off until we got here last night. He would just cry and cry and cry until eventually passing out for a while. But as soon as I would hit a bump he would wake up and cry and cry again through that terrible cycle! I had such a terrible headache when we got here last night at 1 am, but just wanted the drive to be over with!
Poor Calvin, he is currently taking a nap - we're going on 2 1/2 hours right now! It's been nice I have been unpacking some of our stuff and relaxing! We will be here for about 3 weeks and then we head to Baltimore until October!! I miss everyone in Utah soooooo much, I cried alot while driving thinking about how much I am going to miss being around friends and family this summer, but Jess, Calvin and I are going to have such a blast! We have so many trips planned. May my friend from high school is getting married in Philly so we'll go back to my hometown for that! Then June, my parents are coming to visit as well as Aly and some of her roommates. Then in July Jess and I are taking CK and going to Cape Cod where we'll meet our friends Nico and Abbie for a few days. Then the end of July we head to Alaska for a family reunion! I can't wait for it all!!!

Mamma Mia!!

One of the things that I love about being a mother is that Jess and I are the absolute center of Calvin's world. When I come home from the gym, or from my math class and Calvin sees me he absolutely lights up and is soooo happy to see me! It makes me feel so happy that he is truly excited to see me even if I haven't been gone for too long.
Another thing that I love is that Calvin thinks I am the funniest thing on the planet and I can make him laugh doing the dumbest things! I could sit around literally all day just thinking of new ways to make him smile or laugh and wouldn't care one bit that was all I did the entire day!
Calvin also thinks I am such an amazing singer, haha! I can carry a tune, but I'm nothin special, but since being a mother I find myself singing to him all the time because it really calms him down especially if he's in melt-down mode. He especially loves my rendition of "A whole new world"( I sing both Aladdin and Jasmine), he enjoys hip-hop which I absolutely butcher but have a good time trying to rap, anything by Beyonce, primary and church hymns always instantly calm him down, and tonight I was singing songs from "Mamma Mia" at the top of my lungs and he just loved it! But BOY if anyone could have heard me they probably would have had bleeding ears!
I have also noticed that when I am not holding Calvin and happen to be standing for long periods of time, I will start swaying back and forth like I do when I am holding him! When I was at the gym the other day I was taking a breather from lifting reps, and I subconcsciously started to sway back and forth! I almost started laughing out loud once I realized what I was doing!
I've said it before and I'll say it forever...I LOVE being a Mom!

Ch Ch Ch Changes

Well...Jess and I are preparing for our summer in Baltimore! We were going to Kansas but plans changed! So, we are renting out our house (anyone wanna move in?? We'd LOVE to have people we know move in!), which means everything has to be moved out. So, sad as it is we need to pack everything up :(
I am excited for the summer though! And Jess and I will be together this year which is a bazillion times better than last summer which most of you might remember. So, once we get to Baltimore things will be fun, but we have to get there first which means driving across the country w a 4 month old YIKES!!!! Hopefully it will all go ok.
But ever since I had Calvin I have wanted to dye my hair again to give myself a mini makeover, and I finally did! I loveee it! I felt like I needed a new me to go with the new mommy me, especially since I am finally back to my original weight (pretty much). But I want to keep pushing myself to see how much I can sculpt my body the way I want to, but for now I am just grateful to have finally lost all 40 lbs of my baby weight!

Here is the update on our chunky monkey! He is now 3 months (Feb 20) and almost 16 lbs!! His eyes are still green. He is finally getting over a horrible case of cradle cap which we are so grateful for. He talks ALOT and has started laughing which is the cutest thing everr!!He also discovered how much he loves a jumper!

Gotta love my big snack!
