The Bestie Comes to Town

For those of you who are not a twin, I feel so sorry for you! :) But for those of you who are, you will understand how AMAZING it feels to be reunited with the other half of your soul after a long period of time! My sis Aly and her two roommates came through Baltimore on a huge east coast extravaganza trip. I was so glad that we got to spend time with one another for a few days!
We had some memorable moments, what with white trash BBQ's, intense volleyball tournaments, riding the metrorail to DC and seeing the museums, swimming and tanning at the pool, going to downtown Baltimore, weird guys asking us to drive them to the airport, but most of all just laughing. When Aly and I start laughing about something.. it is darn near impossible to make us stop! No one but me and her get it, which makes it more hilarious! Jess has given up trying to figure it out..haha.
She is sadly(for me) moving to Mesa, AZ in a few months, so I won't see her until Thanksgiving!!!! :( But I want you to know Aly that you are and always will be my bestie (besides Jess), and I don't know where I would be in life without your beautiful soul! You have made me so proud this year graduating and moving on into the real world! I love you more than words can describe and cannot wait to see you at Thanksgiving!!

riding the Metro into DC. Sidenote-we were riding that same day of that horrible crash! Luckily, we were not on that line, and we got on about half an hour after it happened. Really made us so grateful for our safety! But my heart goes out to all those involved and their families

the Museum of Natural History. My favorite part was the Hope diamond and the whole room of amazing jewels!!!!

the 3 of us making goofy faces while taking a break in the Air and Space Museum

Grandma and Grandpa Maughan Pt. 2

Monday my parents took CK and I to Annapolis! I had never been and it was such a great little town! It is the capitol of Maryland, and at one time was the capitol of the US! We saw the Naval Academy, and walked up and down streets of amazing little shops. Then we had lunch at this very atmospheric old tavern! Ck and I atop one of the hilly streets in Annapolis! It went all the way to the bay

Tuesday we went to historic Ellicott City. (sorry no pics!my dad has a ton so hopefully eventually I will get them!) We went antiquing there and just admired some stores. Then it got pretty rainy so we went to a local mall, walked around, then went out to dinner.

Wednesday my parents were dears and watched Ck at 6:30 am so Jess and I could go to the temple! It felt so wonderful to go, and it was nice to have that extra spirit with you the days after.

Then my parents and CK and I drove off to Alexandria, VA to see Mt. Vernon! I thought it was so worth it to see George Washington's estate, and boy, he had a sweet piece of land!! It is nestled right next to the Potomac and they had about 8000 acres! There is still the mansion, slave house, gardens, farmhouse, distillery, gristmill, and alot more! He is also buried there with his family.

That night we feasted on barbecue my Mom had made in the crockpot while we were at the temple! It was a great way to end their visit. We cannot wait until we come home in October!! Thanks Nana and Grandpa for such a fun visit!

Grandmpa and Grandpa Maughan come for a visit Pt. 1

We were thrilled when my parents flew in last Friday! Calvin unfortunately was a little wary of them at first, but that only lasted a few moments and then he was in love! We had such a blast while they were here so I will just hit the big stuff we did. Saturday my parents and I took Calvin to the Inner Harbor where we walked around the water, shopped, and ate lunch. That night we all went to the Orioles/Braves game! Ck did so well at it despite allllll the noise! And he made tons of friends!

Sunday was Jess' only day off to spend with us so we decided to go to the National Zoo! I didn't think CK would be into it but he LOVED it!!!! We got to see lots of cool animals!

the 2 giant pandas are the only 2 in the US! They were so cute
this baby gorilla was sooo darling! she was only a few months old like Calvin!
Like his Daddy, ck LOVES the tortugas! (turtles). Well this is technically a tortoise, but you get it!
Hooray for the zoo!!!

The Countdown Begins...

What a lazy week I have been having! Well, as lazy as it can be with a little monkey crawling at light speed getting into everything and only stopping when he is eating or sleeping! I have been catching up on my reading- (Totally recommend 'The Story of Edgar Sawtelle', especially if you are a dog lover!) Other than that, I have been getting some of my children's book ideas onto paper when I have the chance, and hopefully will get them done and send them off to maybe be published! Fingers crossed!
I was sooo stoked when our pool opened-Calvin took to water like white on rice! He is a complete water baby, which I am not at all surprised about, and going to the pool has been a great source of entertainment for us. When he is being super crabby and I cannot take being in the apartment anymore, it's off to the pool!
Every day he grows more and more, and it's all going too fast! He is sitting up now like a total pro. He resembles a baby Buddha when sitting with his chubby-licious little belly, and it has opened a whole new world to him now that he can sit up on his own. And within the past 24 hours he has mastered holding onto objects and standing himself up! Holy cow child slow down!! :)
Anyway, I am enjoying the East Coast, (sans the humidity), and am counting down the days now when my parents are coming to visit! They will fly in Friday night and be here until the 18! Then, Aly flies in on the 18 and will be here until the 29!! I cannot wait to see familiar faces and Calvin is gonna be spoiled ROTTEN! :)
