Ocean City Maryland

This past weekend we headed to Ocean City Maryland for the day! It was worth the 2 1/2 hour drive! we went with some of our salesguys and the only other married couple in our office. We had such a blast!! And Calvin LOVED it! Of course like most babies, he ate handfuls of sand and had such a tummy ache that night :( But we definitely want to go back sometime!

4th of July BBQ in Fairfax VA

We had a BBQ in Fairfax, VA with the office down there on July 5th, and despite forecasts of rain it was such a good time! We ate great food off the grill, talked and hung out, played some intense sand volleyball, there were some water balloons being launched, and the night ended with an ultimate frisbee game. I was not a part of the frisbee game because CK was quite crabby nd super tired by that time...so we watched but it was still fun! The park we went to was so nice and was right on a lake and had neat trails and things like that. Good times!!

check out that baby bum!!

My Own Personal Hell

This past week has been dubbed 'hell week' throughout the company which means everyone busting their butts working 9-9. Yikes. Whoever manages it all week as well as some other requirements means they get to go to Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Va. I am super sad because I opted not to join the group once I considered how outrageously un-fun it would be with a 7 month old. I am sad, but hey..at least this year I am not prego and can join everyone on the company cruise..(WAY better!)
So, in spirit of hell week, I decided to have one of my own. I decided to up my workout regimen and lose some more poundage! My original goal was 5 which seemed highly unlikely but I like to shoot for the stars, and hey I lost 2! Pretty good in my book :) I am going to keep going beyond this week and keep it up for the rest of the summer! Even in Alaska! Jill I plan on working out with you while we are there since you are doing the body for life!
My friend Jennah who will be joining Jess and I along with her hubby Jeremiah in August is training for a marathon in Moab next March, and wants me to train with her! So, that should help my weighloss and over all shape-up considerably!
So far so good! Only 3-4 months to get into rock hard shape for the cruise! Wish me luck...

We came, saw, and rode a train for over an hour

I hope that everyone had a wonderful 4th of July! We certainly had a memorable one! We ended up going to DC for the fireworks...last minute decision. Jess and I got all ready to go and once in the car turned to each other and said "well..where are we going?" to which after pondering for a few moments I declared "Go big or go home!" which became our motto for the night. So, off to DC we went. We hopped on the Metro and rode it in which didn't take quite as long as our trip back would be. We were in the very front car right next to the driver so we got to see where we were driving , and those tunnels are so creepy!!
Once there we walked around the mall which was swarming with people, and I actually found a very decent view of the Washington Monument in the grass. So we sat and waited and people watched. Calvin LOVED the fireworks! He would stand up and wave his chubby arms around and coo- I was thrilled!
Afterwards it was a nightmare trying to leave. The line for the metro on the mall was so long it was almost comical, so we walked a few blocks away to a hidden gem metro stop where no one was, but one our train arrived it seemed that hundreds of people came out of no where so our train was stuffed. And to make matters worse it didn't go for about 20 mins of pure misery. And at every stop it seemed like we waited forever. By this point Calvin was beyound hysterical, and all these inibrieated college kids were playing peek-a-boo and making all sorts of attempts to make him laugh. I wish I had filmed it-they were hysterical.
But eventually we made it! What a night to remember, and all the while running through my head was "Go big or go home!"
Indeed.

waiting for the show!

from the first firework to the last Calvin was transfixed

the monument is alot smaller than you think.. :)

Happy birthday America!!!

Freedom

Another year, another July the 4th and this time with a nino! I can't believe my little guy is 7 months already! I can't wait for Jess to be done at 3 today so that we can go play in the city and see some fireworks at the Inner Harbor! But I just wanted to say how grateful I am for all the freedoms that we take for granted every single day, and have so much gratitude for our founding fathers who dreamed an impossible dream of a free country, and for the soldiers who keep their dream alive by fighting everyday.
