T is for Turkey!

Turkey Day! Ahhh....a whole day centered around football, family and FOOD! My kinda holiday! And this year I COULD NOT wait to see Aly who moved to Mesa in August and I havent' seen since June when she flew out to Baltimore. So, I convinced her to get an earlier flight and we surprised everyone! It was great :) As soon as Aly got there, (this was Wed), we dropped Calvin off at my parents house and aly got changed and we headed over to our first annual Turkey Bowl! We are hoping to make it a staple every year at Thanksgiving. Not everyone was able to show up, but we still had so much fun. Can't wait until next year!

Thanksgiving day was so fun. We had absolutely delish food, thanks to my Mom! We had two very close family friends over who's family is in Philadelphia, which made it feel more like home :) We ate and ate and ate, then played the Wii and ate some more! Pretty much all we did was eat, which is what I love about this holiday :)

I am sooooo glad I got to see Aly, and can't wait until Christmas when I can see her again! I miss you and love you!!! reunited and it feels SO good!!
Calvin has 2 mommies! Which one is which? He DOES NOT care! :)
foolin' around w/ Pop Pop!
the Wii games were getting intense!
See ya next year Thanksgiving!!! :)

B is for Busy

And Busy we have been! This little monkey keeps me on my toes alllll day long! But I LOVE it. Motherhood is so wonderful, and so fulfilling for me. I never imagined how amazing it would feel, and how much I learn from Calvin as much as he learns from me! I thought I would post his 1 year stats.

height: 31 inches 80%

weight: 24.12 lbs 80%

He still has that blasted ear infection so we are doing one final dose of antibiotics and praying that it works this time. But in the mean time I have the number for an Ear Nose and Throat doctor to check it out when he is done the 10 day cycle to see if he'll need tubes put it. *sigh* poor baby!!!

But you would never be able to tell any of this. He is the happiest loviest little baby ever. He is chirpy as soon as we wakes up in the morning. More often than not he will be in our bed by then, and he sits up and pats us on the head and gets right in your face like he's saying "wake uppp!!!"
He LOVES to give loves now! he will walk up to you and just lean his head on you, smile and go ahhhhh! So.CUTE.
I cannot believe I am the mother of a toddler now. crazy that he is no longer considered a baby!

I am also keeping busy by working out once a day. I have boosted up my cardio, which is making me feel fabulous! I must run at least 60 mins a day or else I feel like I am a big fat slug now. But other than working out, I am being mommy, working on my own personal projects, hanging out with my friends and keeping up our social life, and also doing my calling in our ward. I am now the Activity Days leader for the 11 year olds which I have enjoyed so much! The girls are adorable and so talkative and sweet, they have made the calling so easy for me to get into. We made center pieces for fall and thanksgiving last week, and I made one too! I think they turned out pretty cute :)

Happy 1st Birthday Bubby!

I cannot even believe it has already been a year! Time flew by wayy to fast and I have been crying all week long! (In a good way though, but it's hard to believe that my baby boy is growing up). We didn't celebrate Ck's birthday until Sunday night so that my Dad could be there, and we had so much fun! We had a great turnout, and Calvin was just super excited to have so many people at our house and especially for the balloons that I had blown up.
I decided to do a monkey theme since we call him our little monkey, and he loves monkeys! I had this whole plan of doing banana splits and stuff, but figured it just wasn't worth it. So, I made this really cute little monkey cake, and everyone else had ice cream sundaes! So, we sang to Calvin and gave him his cake, and he was very cautious at first just picking up little pieces and eating politely, but once Jess smeared some icing on his face and smashed his hands into it, then he really started going at it! So cute :)

Here's to one amazing year Calvin! And many many more birthdays to come!!!

Thanksgiving come a Little Early...

Today my heart is so full of gratitude, love, and thanksgiving! As Thanksgiving nears, I have lots to be thankful for and want to share some things.
Medicine- my poor Calvin has had this stubborn ear infection since the beginning of October that has just not responded to three antibiotic treatments. Poor baby also has had a cold that has developed into Bronchitis :( But thanks to modern medicine and our wonderful Pediatrician who puts up with my hysterical phone calls, and let's us visit right when we need to, I think that we have finally got it under control. Calvin has had to have some hardcore shots of antibiotics (the strongest you can get outside the hospital), and this should do the trick. If not, he will have to go and see an Ear Nose and Throat doctor to get tubes put in which I DO NOT want to have happen!!
Priesthood- Jess just happened to be gone this week while Calvin was horribly horribly sick. He didn't sleep for almost two days! Had a fever, coughed so badly that he threw up (all over me of course), and was just plain MISERABLE. I am so so grateful for Jess and the fact that he is a worthy Priesthood holder that constantly blesses his family and makes our home feel all the safer. But, since Jess was gone, I was in need of a Priesthood holder to give Calvin a blessing to make sure that the antibiotics worked this time. So, Jess was not home, and my Dad was not either. Not only do I have neighbors to call upon, our home teachers, bishop, but my best friend's husband called me up and offered as well anytime of day or night. I was so touched I about cried,(ok let's be honest I did cry!), I was so full of gratitude for how blessed Jess and I are with so many people around us who love and care for us and our little buddy.

Family- I miss my sister soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sososososososososos much! She moved to Mesa a few months ago, and I still talk to her at least 10 times a day, but it still just isn't the same. But, she is coming up for Thanksgiving next week! I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HER!!!!!!!! And Calvin can't wait to see his Auntie Aly either :) I love the holiday season, which starts with Thanksgiving and quickly goes to Christmas and New Years eve! Family, food, gifts, food, christmas music decorations, singing carols, fooooood, fun, games, snow, and most importantly remembering the real message of Christmas: Christ. Can't wait :)

AND most importantly........tomorrow at 4:41 AM my little baby boy is turning 1. ONE YEAR! It has gone by soooo quickly!!! Can't wait to have his birthday party, been planning it for quite a while now! Hope everything goes great!! I love my little monkey!

Oink Oink

After much debating on my part I finally decided Calvin and I needed to get the H1N1 vaccination. I had heard so many things about side effects etc, but got confirmation that we would be fine, and that we needed it. Poor Jess can't get it yet, but hopefully soon. He has the immune system of steel though from his mission, so I am not too worried about him :) But Utah County is now doing it where you go in on Monday, get a ticket with a time and day from Tues to Thurs, and then you head back on your day at your time! So simple and the lines FLEW. So, I picked up tickets for my friends since you can get up to six at a time, and we all got vaccinated together. Calvin was SO brave, he didn't even whimper when they shoved that needle in his chubby leg!

Anywho, I am convinced that Calvin already had swine flu. The weekend before we went to Hawaii Jess was in Vegas and Calvin had a raging fever, runny nose, cough, and threw up twice! When I took him to Urgent Care that Sunday, the doc didn't even mention testing for Swine Flu, (it was before the vaccinations came out, so I honestly wasn't considering it either!), but looked in his ear, saw an ear infection and said That's it! But, whether Calvin had it or not, I feel much relief now knowing that he is vaccinated! Well, we have to go back in a month for him to get a second one, but still.

So, Calvin doensn't have swine flu, but he does have a double ear infection AND a sinus infection!! Poor baby :( He is happy as a clam now with his antibiotics!!!
