We came, saw, and rode a train for over an hour

I hope that everyone had a wonderful 4th of July! We certainly had a memorable one! We ended up going to DC for the fireworks...last minute decision. Jess and I got all ready to go and once in the car turned to each other and said "well..where are we going?" to which after pondering for a few moments I declared "Go big or go home!" which became our motto for the night. So, off to DC we went. We hopped on the Metro and rode it in which didn't take quite as long as our trip back would be. We were in the very front car right next to the driver so we got to see where we were driving , and those tunnels are so creepy!!
Once there we walked around the mall which was swarming with people, and I actually found a very decent view of the Washington Monument in the grass. So we sat and waited and people watched. Calvin LOVED the fireworks! He would stand up and wave his chubby arms around and coo- I was thrilled!
Afterwards it was a nightmare trying to leave. The line for the metro on the mall was so long it was almost comical, so we walked a few blocks away to a hidden gem metro stop where no one was, but one our train arrived it seemed that hundreds of people came out of no where so our train was stuffed. And to make matters worse it didn't go for about 20 mins of pure misery. And at every stop it seemed like we waited forever. By this point Calvin was beyound hysterical, and all these inibrieated college kids were playing peek-a-boo and making all sorts of attempts to make him laugh. I wish I had filmed it-they were hysterical.
But eventually we made it! What a night to remember, and all the while running through my head was "Go big or go home!"
Indeed.

waiting for the show!
