HO! HO! HO!

Well it's finally here!!! Christmas eve, and up here in Idaho we have been receiving glorious beautiful snow all day :) Christmas is just not Christmas without snow I say. Cannot wait until tomorrow when Calvin gets to open his presents (I have had to hide them from him! If he gets a chance he runs under the tree and tries to rip presents open!) and get to see the joy on his face. Ohh to think that this time last year he was only a month old and so small....my baby is growing way to fast!
Anyways, hope everyone has a very wonderful Christmas together! I am off to have some YUM fondue (3 kinds!) tonight which is a Butikofer favorite!!

HO HO HO!!

Merry christmas to Calvin...

Well we are in Idaho for Christmas! Trip was great, got here just fine. No snow or ice on the roads thankfully. First night went without incident, but Saturday night Calvin was up ALL. NIGHT.LONG. So, Sunday morning church wasn't until 1 pm so I found an urgent care in Rexburg and took the little buddy first thing. The report? Ear infection in both ears annnnd a sinus infection. The good thing was that we caught the ear infections just as they started so they were just barely starting to be bad. The antibiotics they gave CK work great though, he is like night and day from yesterday to today. At least that is one good thing :) So, hopefully this Christmas is still merry!!

Let It Snow Let It Snow Let It Snow!!!

We have gotten quite a bit of snow within the past week, and I thought it was about time for Calvin to experience it for the first time! He wasn't sure at first and sort of just stood there like he is in these pictures.

But after Jess and I pelted him with a few snowballs (don't worry not in the face!) he started walking around and having fun. But once he face planted and got too cold he was DONE. But I am so glad that he finally got to experience snow, but I am sure he'll get plenty of it in Idaho when we head up there next weekend! Can't wait for Christmas!!!

The Awakening

Jess is gone..again. He's off recruiting in Idaho I think he is in Boise today. I hate when he is gone...I can never fall asleep. Last night I had to keep the tv on in our room for some white noise so that every little noise wouldn't freak me out! I hate being such a wimp, but I am. So, when Calvin woke up at 4 I got to see what was on the Food Network at that time! :)
Anyway, I bought a new book which I am excited to start reading! I think I will start it tonight while I try to fall asleep or maybe during Calvin's nap time today. It's Called "The Vampire Diaries", and a show is based on it on tv right now which I think is really good, so I don't think the book will disappoint! I'll keep ya posted on whether or not it's worth the read....

It's that Time of year

...The most wonderful time of the year... :)

I love the holidays! I love Christmas music, lights, decor, presents, cookies, food, family, Christmas caroling...you name it I LOVE it!!!

Jess, Calvin, and I went to see the lights at Temple square this past Friday. It was super cold, but always so worth it :) Calvin loved the lights!! He was in heaven, all bundled up nice and snug in his stroller. It makes me smile to see him get excited about things, so watching him get psyched about all the lights was great!

After we had froze our butts off...we decided to go and get some food, and Five Guys is where we decided to go! Wow. In and Out who? I love this place! Great great burgers and fries! Highly recommend it :)

Girls night out/ Boys fight night

We are starting a once a month GNO/ boys night! Our first one was fun, but needs to be longer next time. Love girls nights w no kids for a while, although I missed my boys! Sad huh?

Extreme Home Makeover!!

Ok, so not exactly EXTREME..but we have been doing lots and lots of updating on our home since we moved in almost 2 year ago. I'll get to our bedroom later, but today I am going to focus on our kitchen! When we moved in I liked it, but in all reality the color on the walls made me want to vomit, and the sickeningly orange/yellow cabinets needed to go. But the counter tops I liked, so we decided to slowly turn it into a kitchen that we loved instead of liked. Here is our journey:
This is the kitchen when we moved in. BLECK!

Last fall literally days before I had Calvin Jess decided to paint the cabinets antique white and the walls a light blue/gray. And our accent is red to match the stained glass on the one cabinet door
and finally we installed our backsplash this past weekend. Boy was it alot harder than we thought, but after 3 long days and lots of patience it's done! Yes!!

thought i would also throw in a picture of Calvin's mullet. yikes! Jess will not let me cut his hair!! I want it all to be long, but the same length. Mullet me no likey! Maybe I will trim it up while Jess is out.... :)

T is for Turkey!

Turkey Day! Ahhh....a whole day centered around football, family and FOOD! My kinda holiday! And this year I COULD NOT wait to see Aly who moved to Mesa in August and I havent' seen since June when she flew out to Baltimore. So, I convinced her to get an earlier flight and we surprised everyone! It was great :) As soon as Aly got there, (this was Wed), we dropped Calvin off at my parents house and aly got changed and we headed over to our first annual Turkey Bowl! We are hoping to make it a staple every year at Thanksgiving. Not everyone was able to show up, but we still had so much fun. Can't wait until next year!

Thanksgiving day was so fun. We had absolutely delish food, thanks to my Mom! We had two very close family friends over who's family is in Philadelphia, which made it feel more like home :) We ate and ate and ate, then played the Wii and ate some more! Pretty much all we did was eat, which is what I love about this holiday :)

I am sooooo glad I got to see Aly, and can't wait until Christmas when I can see her again! I miss you and love you!!! reunited and it feels SO good!!
Calvin has 2 mommies! Which one is which? He DOES NOT care! :)
foolin' around w/ Pop Pop!
the Wii games were getting intense!
See ya next year Thanksgiving!!! :)

B is for Busy

And Busy we have been! This little monkey keeps me on my toes alllll day long! But I LOVE it. Motherhood is so wonderful, and so fulfilling for me. I never imagined how amazing it would feel, and how much I learn from Calvin as much as he learns from me! I thought I would post his 1 year stats.

height: 31 inches 80%

weight: 24.12 lbs 80%

He still has that blasted ear infection so we are doing one final dose of antibiotics and praying that it works this time. But in the mean time I have the number for an Ear Nose and Throat doctor to check it out when he is done the 10 day cycle to see if he'll need tubes put it. *sigh* poor baby!!!

But you would never be able to tell any of this. He is the happiest loviest little baby ever. He is chirpy as soon as we wakes up in the morning. More often than not he will be in our bed by then, and he sits up and pats us on the head and gets right in your face like he's saying "wake uppp!!!"
He LOVES to give loves now! he will walk up to you and just lean his head on you, smile and go ahhhhh! So.CUTE.
I cannot believe I am the mother of a toddler now. crazy that he is no longer considered a baby!

I am also keeping busy by working out once a day. I have boosted up my cardio, which is making me feel fabulous! I must run at least 60 mins a day or else I feel like I am a big fat slug now. But other than working out, I am being mommy, working on my own personal projects, hanging out with my friends and keeping up our social life, and also doing my calling in our ward. I am now the Activity Days leader for the 11 year olds which I have enjoyed so much! The girls are adorable and so talkative and sweet, they have made the calling so easy for me to get into. We made center pieces for fall and thanksgiving last week, and I made one too! I think they turned out pretty cute :)

Happy 1st Birthday Bubby!

I cannot even believe it has already been a year! Time flew by wayy to fast and I have been crying all week long! (In a good way though, but it's hard to believe that my baby boy is growing up). We didn't celebrate Ck's birthday until Sunday night so that my Dad could be there, and we had so much fun! We had a great turnout, and Calvin was just super excited to have so many people at our house and especially for the balloons that I had blown up.
I decided to do a monkey theme since we call him our little monkey, and he loves monkeys! I had this whole plan of doing banana splits and stuff, but figured it just wasn't worth it. So, I made this really cute little monkey cake, and everyone else had ice cream sundaes! So, we sang to Calvin and gave him his cake, and he was very cautious at first just picking up little pieces and eating politely, but once Jess smeared some icing on his face and smashed his hands into it, then he really started going at it! So cute :)

Here's to one amazing year Calvin! And many many more birthdays to come!!!

Thanksgiving come a Little Early...

Today my heart is so full of gratitude, love, and thanksgiving! As Thanksgiving nears, I have lots to be thankful for and want to share some things.
Medicine- my poor Calvin has had this stubborn ear infection since the beginning of October that has just not responded to three antibiotic treatments. Poor baby also has had a cold that has developed into Bronchitis :( But thanks to modern medicine and our wonderful Pediatrician who puts up with my hysterical phone calls, and let's us visit right when we need to, I think that we have finally got it under control. Calvin has had to have some hardcore shots of antibiotics (the strongest you can get outside the hospital), and this should do the trick. If not, he will have to go and see an Ear Nose and Throat doctor to get tubes put in which I DO NOT want to have happen!!
Priesthood- Jess just happened to be gone this week while Calvin was horribly horribly sick. He didn't sleep for almost two days! Had a fever, coughed so badly that he threw up (all over me of course), and was just plain MISERABLE. I am so so grateful for Jess and the fact that he is a worthy Priesthood holder that constantly blesses his family and makes our home feel all the safer. But, since Jess was gone, I was in need of a Priesthood holder to give Calvin a blessing to make sure that the antibiotics worked this time. So, Jess was not home, and my Dad was not either. Not only do I have neighbors to call upon, our home teachers, bishop, but my best friend's husband called me up and offered as well anytime of day or night. I was so touched I about cried,(ok let's be honest I did cry!), I was so full of gratitude for how blessed Jess and I are with so many people around us who love and care for us and our little buddy.

Family- I miss my sister soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sososososososososos much! She moved to Mesa a few months ago, and I still talk to her at least 10 times a day, but it still just isn't the same. But, she is coming up for Thanksgiving next week! I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HER!!!!!!!! And Calvin can't wait to see his Auntie Aly either :) I love the holiday season, which starts with Thanksgiving and quickly goes to Christmas and New Years eve! Family, food, gifts, food, christmas music decorations, singing carols, fooooood, fun, games, snow, and most importantly remembering the real message of Christmas: Christ. Can't wait :)

AND most importantly........tomorrow at 4:41 AM my little baby boy is turning 1. ONE YEAR! It has gone by soooo quickly!!! Can't wait to have his birthday party, been planning it for quite a while now! Hope everything goes great!! I love my little monkey!

Oink Oink

After much debating on my part I finally decided Calvin and I needed to get the H1N1 vaccination. I had heard so many things about side effects etc, but got confirmation that we would be fine, and that we needed it. Poor Jess can't get it yet, but hopefully soon. He has the immune system of steel though from his mission, so I am not too worried about him :) But Utah County is now doing it where you go in on Monday, get a ticket with a time and day from Tues to Thurs, and then you head back on your day at your time! So simple and the lines FLEW. So, I picked up tickets for my friends since you can get up to six at a time, and we all got vaccinated together. Calvin was SO brave, he didn't even whimper when they shoved that needle in his chubby leg!

Anywho, I am convinced that Calvin already had swine flu. The weekend before we went to Hawaii Jess was in Vegas and Calvin had a raging fever, runny nose, cough, and threw up twice! When I took him to Urgent Care that Sunday, the doc didn't even mention testing for Swine Flu, (it was before the vaccinations came out, so I honestly wasn't considering it either!), but looked in his ear, saw an ear infection and said That's it! But, whether Calvin had it or not, I feel much relief now knowing that he is vaccinated! Well, we have to go back in a month for him to get a second one, but still.

So, Calvin doensn't have swine flu, but he does have a double ear infection AND a sinus infection!! Poor baby :( He is happy as a clam now with his antibiotics!!!

Woo! What a night!Potluck party at the Pesci's, which is always fun. I helped Abbie make some super cute decor which turned out great! Move Over Martha

Jamie and I went to a baby shower for our friend Amber this past Saturday, and she had the lovely idea of making a diaper cake. I have seen them before at showers and thought they were so cute and thought they were hard to make, but I was so wrong! I am so happy about how it turned out that I am going to be making them for every baby shower I go to now. Thanks Jamie for bringing out my crafty side- I knew it was in there somewhere :) Amber and I, man I kinda miss having a belly!

Eat your heart out Martha.
