6 months and counting!

A few days late with this post..sorry! CK turned 6 months on May 20th and I can hardly believe how fast he is growing! He has been crawling for about a month now which started as more of a leg drag army-crawl but he has perfected it now as you can see! (Please don't mind the mess of my apt, I seriously clean that place every night, but every day it just seems to get messy alllll over again!)

Calvin's 6 month stats:
weight: 19 lbs- 75th percentile
height: 29 inches-95th percentile
head circumference: I don't recall the exact measurement, but he's 50th percentile

I am still anxiously awaiting the weekend to be nice so I can take this little monkey swimming! Last weekend we were in Philly, and then Memorial Day was rainy so we didn't get to go. So, hopefully this weekend proves to be alot nicer!

Summer Better Than Others

This Summer has certainly started off with a bang! Memorial Day weekend we got to drive up to Philly to see one of my dearest high school friends Jenna get married! The wedding was actually in New Jersey, so we drove up to Jenna's parents house in my hometown of Wallingford, Pa and then followed their limo to the country club. I had never been to a non Mormon wedding before and it certainly did not disappoint! Other than it being like an oven outside, everything was beautiful. Jenna and George shared sweet vows with each other, and boy did she look hot in her dress, she is one of the few women who can pull off a strapless gown.
After the ceremony there was a cocktail hour with some of the greatest finger foods I have ever tasted! Then dinner was right after and the reception. Calvin got a bit scared by the music from the DJ, but lots of older ladies there gladly took Calvin off our hands for a while! Calvin was seriously the life of the party, and sooo many people came up to talk to us about him or just to talk to him! I was in line to get some drinks and this woman came up to me who I hadn't talked to and said "OHH I just wanted to tell you how adorable your baby boy is!" I didn't even have Calvin with me, she must have just seen us earlier. I couldn't agree more though :)
We ended up skipping out early because Calvin was getting terribly tired, but I was so glad I got to see Jenna and George finally tie the knot!

After we left, Jess and I thought "hey, we are 30 miles from Atlantic City, why not spend the night there??" BAD IDEA! So we got there around 10:30, and soon discovered that Memorial Day weekend is the worst weekend to try and stay there because the cheapest room available anywhere was $450! NO thank you! So, after trying several hotels and casinos, we decided to just drive back to Philly and stay the night there. We found a Bank of America toll on our GPS to get money to pay for all the stupid tolls on the way back, and eventually found a hotel to our liking around 12:30 in Philly and then promptly passed out!

Sunday morning we got up and headed to Geno's! MMM...even thinking about their cheesesteaks now is making my mouth water! If you're ever in Philly, don't listen to anyone but me (a true Philadelphian, ha!) that Geno's is the better than Pat's hands down! But, you can try both if you prefer! We ate around noon and then headed to South Street, one of my favorite places to shop! And we're lucky we hit Geno's when we did, because when we came back to our car around 3 ish, the line was over 2 hours long!!! Yikes!

What a fun weekend! And the fun didn't stop in Philly! Memorial Day Jess and all the sales lads worked half a day, and we had a fun BBQ by the pool. The weather was a tad rainy, but we still made it work and had fun! After all the food we had an intense volleyball tournament that lasted well after the sun went down and no-one could even see the ball! Good times, and this was just one weekend!

Huge Pupils and other tales

So, life here in B-town has been fun! We are getting adjusted to the humidity again (which I always forget how poofy it makes my hair ahh!!) , but I am LOVIN the hot weather and cannot wait for our pool to open so that I can take Big Easy swimming. He is such a water baby he flips out everytime he gets in the tub so I can only imagine what he'll do in the pool!
Anywho, it blows my mind how everywhere I go people come up to me and talk to me because of Calvin. It's like no one in Baltimore has seen a baby! haha, but I will confess I love the attention! And they can't help it, Calvin is the cutest baby alive, I would come up and want to talk to him too!
An example, I was in the bank the other day, and this lady was behind me. She proceeds to start having a full convo with Calvin (not me, mind you, I didn't exist to her), and before I knew it, she breaks out in a full rendition of 'I'm a little teapot' in the middle of the bank, hand motions and all!
Another example, I was in our gym the other morning at our apt complex. Calvin usually is quite obliging and allows me at least 45 mins of workout time in the gym. He chills in his stroller and plays with his toys until he lets me know when he has had it. So, I get in my running time at least, and if I don't get to lift or do abs, I do them in our apt later while he sleeps. It works out quite nicely! Back to my story- I was running the other day and this lady comes in who I assume had every intention of working out too, but proceeded for half an hour to sit down next to Calvin's stroller and play with him!
Am I taking crazy pills?? I don't mind the attention to a point, but come on people! I felt odd that this woman would not even talk to me, but thinks it's ok to play and touch my baby (hello..swine flu!). So, shameful as it might sound, if she is in the gym or comes into the gym now while I am there...I book it! haha!
A few days ago a cluster of blurry cells appeared in my vision in my right eye. Not really bothered at first, I brushed it off because I have seen floaters my entire life so I assumed it was just one of those. But after a few days of it not going away and not moving when I moved my eye around, I got worried. So today I had my appointment at the eyedoc at Costco. I was really nervous! Jess prayed for me last night in our prayers which made me feel better, and he kept assuring me that everything would be fine. But, I mean you only get one pair of eyes!
So, I had my appt today and eveything is fine! She said that it is just a small cluster of cells that will go away and is nothing to worry about! Phew! What a freakin relief! I also got a new pair of glasses finally it's been oh, 7 years since I have even gotten the prescription changed in my old pair, and they are so bent from years of me falling asleep in them! haha! And I would love the option of being able to wear glasses some days instead of contacts, and thought a new hot stylish pair would help me do so!
But, she dilated my eyes at the appt which I haven't had done in quite a long time. After we were done I went and did my grocery shopping which was hard enough not being able to see close up, I felt like Mr. Magoo! She gave me those awesome shades to wear outside and assured me I would be fine driving. Can I just tell you how terrifying it was? I felt like a mole person coming up to the surface after years of being underground! When I drove home on I-95 I felt like I was driving on the surface of the sun! It was sooo bright even with my sunglasses over the shades! Boy, was I glad to get home in one piece!
Then, once home I went to change a very soggy wet Calvin and realized I had totally spaced it at Costco and didn't get diapers! AHHH!! So, with absolutely NO diapers in the apt or my car I raced to the closest grocery store and grabbed some then sped home before any leaks happened! Whew! What a day!

Private

So...I am making our blog private from here on out. I'll give it a few more days for anyone else who wants to still see it to have a chance to send me their emails. Some incidents have happened and I honestly don't want people that I do not want to be able to see what is going on in our lives and know information about me.
Anywho, if you want to still catch up on us Butikofers..send me along your email address! Thanks a bunch :)

a whirlwind!!!!

Well it has been quite a whirlwind of the past few weeks! I have been so busy that I haven't been able to blog, well not having internet access was another reason too. But just in case you all were wondering where the Hades I have been...that's where! We left Kansas City the middle of April and had a rainy drive all the way to Baltimore! But it has been so much fun since we have been here. I love love LOVE the East coast and miss it so much! I feel more at home here than in Utah, although I have grown to love the mountains.
Anywho..thought I would give an update on what's been going on with Calvin and our adventures in Kansas.

Calvin is now 5 1/2 months! Hard to believe in two short weeks he'll already be half a year old..CRAZY! But he already has one tooth, working on number two. He babbles non-stop all day long, and says Da-da..but I am sure he doesn't know what he's saying yet! Sure is cute though when he does...(wish it was Mama though!! ) He also is CRAWLING! AHH! Life drastically changes once they are mobile..so baby proofing and picking up every little thing off the floor has been tedious, but fun! I love seeing him be able to get what he wants instead of just crying when he can't reach it.

He is so sweet and cuddly. He loves to snuggle in bed with Mom and Dad for at least an extra half hour or hour after he wakes up in the morning. And he loves "wresteling" with his daddy..at least as much as a baby can! He laughs at anything and everything, and will give every stranger he sees the biggest goofiest grin which is now even cuter with his one tooth! And my big boy now holds his own bottle!! I about died when he did it the first time! Momma was so proud :) I can't wait for his 6 month check up to see how much he weighs and all his other stats. He is such a big boy!

Our three weeks in Kansas City were fun! I made friends with one of the new wives, and I feel like although she'll be in Chicago all summer that I have made a dear friend for life! Jess worked hard, and we played hard on the weekends! Kansas City is like another home for us, since my parents lived there for 4 years and Jess and I have lived there twice during the summer. This is our fav fountain downtown, and we have lots of pics of us together at it, and now one with Calvin!
Calvin went on his first date with Amiah..they are adorable together and would love to babble and roll into each other when on the floor. They were trying to hold hands in front of the fountain..but I have no photographic proof
We got to take Calvin to his first MLB game- Yankees vs the Royals! It was slightly chilly that night, but we had fun! When the Yankees hit a home run Jess stood up and lifted Calvin up like the Lion King, and people started booing him, and Calvin started to CRY! haha poor baby!!
We have been having so much fun in Baltimore so far! There are a lot of great guys in the office, and I can't wait to see my friends in Philly in a few weeks for my friends wedding!! Summer 2009...So far so good!!
