Memorial Weekend In Kansas City

I flew to Kansas City to finally get to see Jess for a few days! I haven't seen him since he left at the end of March :( Boy was it good to be reunited! We totally feel like we are dating again, because we always did the long distance thing, so it's sort of funny to feel that way again!
There were some really crazy storms when I flew out! Literally 10 mins before my plane took off from SLC to Denver CNN broke the news that two tornados had touched down in Denver...AWESOME! So it was safe to say everyone on our plane was a little panicked! Once in the air, the pilot had to descend alot earlier than usual, so our turbulence was HORRIBLE. I honestly thought the plane was going down! And it realllllly didn't help my motion sickness I have from being pregnant! So once we finally landed in Denver I got really sick! So not fun! Everything else was smoothe sailing that day, and I finally got to Kansas City late that night. We had a really bad t-storm that night and Jess' apartment building got struck like 3 times! I have never heard thunder that loud in my life!
Anyways, Friday Jess went out and worked like ususal, so I checked out the gym at his complex and my friend Stephanie and I hung out all day watching tv. (Her husband sold with Jess in Dallas and Baltimore, so we're really good friends now!) Then that night I surprised Jess with a good home cooked meal which he hasn't had since he left, and I did all of his laundry, cleaned his apartment and did all his dishes! :)
Saturday Jess only worked half a day, and we went out that night to celebrate Steph's b-day. We ate at a Brazilian Churrascuria (sp?) which I have never been to before! I don't do great with alot of meat still, but I managed to try some yummy turkey wrapped in bacon, and some delicious pork tenderloin! The rest of the night I stuck with the hot/cold bar.

I have never seen one man consume so much meat as Chris did that night! We were there for almost 2 hours and he was STILL hungry! Crazy! I wish I could eat like that! Then that night Jess and I just rented some movies and did some old fashioned snuggling on the couch :)
Sunday was the only nice day that I was there. It was sunny and 90 degrees out all day! We sorta slept in, so we missed church..oops! But since I considered it a vacation, we hit up the pool for a while and caught some rays. Then we got dressed and headed to downtown Kansas City to Union Station for some Memorial Day celebration!

Inside Union Station, the architecture is gorgeous inside!

We walked around Union Station, as well as the Crown Center which is a bunch of shops and restaurants until they all closed. Then we headed outside in the intense heat to wait for the Kansas Symphony show to start! We still had a while though so we climbed up the hill across the street from Union Station to check out the WWI memorial. Me playing with a cannon. They shot several off later during the show!

We climbed all the way up the hill to see the museum but it had just barely closed! Dang it! I was absolutely exhausted from the heat and the climbing, so we decided to pick a spot in the grass and just wait for the show to start!

It was crowded here, but only got MORE crowded! I couldn't believe how many people came out! But the symphony was amazing, and they even had the LAST living war hero from WWI there! He is from Missouri, and they gave a little history on him. He fought in both World Wars, and in WWII was in a prison camp in the Phillipines and was less than 90 lbs when they liberated him! They panned the camera to him and everyone stood and clapped and cheered for over 10 mins..I had tears streaming down my face. What an amazing man!

Once the symphony was over we turned around and they had a really awesome fireworks display over the WWI memorial!

Monday, and my last day there, we woke up to MORE RAIN! boo! So we decided to go movie-hopping! A passion of ours :) We went to go see Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull, and I am a HUGE Indiana Jones not to mention Harrison Ford fan, but I was HORRIBLE DISAPPOINTED! I really thought the movie sucked and it makes me sad to say it! Oh well... we then tried to hop into a showing of Iron Man, but they were all already half way through, so we went into Prince Caspian. Also another "eh.." movie. But it was fun reguardless!

That night the weather cleared up so we had a huge bbq with the office which was yummy and fun! Then the boys all played a rousing game of sand volleyball which I was horrible unhappy that I cannot play anymore, but had fun watching :)

All in all a good weekend, but DEF not a long enough stay for me to see Jess! So I'm going back for the 4th of July and staying for at least 15 days!

ohhh BOY!!!

Well today we finally found out and we're having a baby boy!!!! We are sooo excited! I had Jess on the phone with me at the ultrasound since he wasn't able to fly in from Kansas City. Aly and my Mom also came with me to experience the surprise too! We were all very emotional, even Jess! The baby was moving around a TON! I couldn't believe it what a little monkey! I felt this overwhelming love growing in my chest for him as I finally laid eyes on him in my belly..what an amazing feeling! At first he was sitting indian style so we coudln't see a dang thing between his legs! But she kept kind of nudging him to try to get him to move, and he finally did! And there was NO mistaking the little boy part! But, the ultrasound tech said that I am only 15 weeks not 20! AHH!!!! So my due date is now Nov. 13, NOT Oct. 15! I'm taking is as a blessing though because now Jess and I will have more time together when he gets home from the summer before the baby comes! It all works out!
So I cannot wait to meet my little boy come November!!

Preparations for Motherhood

The Lord never ceases to amaze me with His plan for me. Today I was sustained as the nursery leader in Jess and I's ward, which is so fun! I am over the 2 year old class and just have a blast! I used to teach sunbeams in Dallas, and making 3 year olds sit in chairs for 2 hours was NOT fun for me! In fact, I used to come home from church in tears and wanting to pull my hair out! But nursery I LOVE! The kids are so sweet and we get to play and have snacktime and have a short lesson and music time. It's a very enjoyable atmosphere and I am really going to love my calling.
And last week I started my new job as a nanny. I have never nannied before, but was told about the opportunity through a good friend of mine so I thought I'd give it a shot. It's only two-three days a week at that, and the kids are Creed-11, Hannah-9, and Calvin-7. So they're not really young kids or anything, and I get to pick them up from school, kind of supervise them at home, which I don't really have to do anything because they're old enough to play with their friends or be outside, so I basically get to sit on their couch and play their Wii. BOO-YA! Then I chauffeur them around to either karate or gymnastics depending on the day, which is fun for me to sit and watch them too so I enjoy it! Creed is autistic and a complete sweetheart, and it's been very educating and interesting for me to be around him and learn a little more about autism.
But as I was sitting in sacrament meeting today after being sustained, I thought to myself that the Lord is slowly and surely preparing me for motherhood. These kids are by no means newborn babies or even babies at that, but the experience being around children and having full responsibility of them for a few hours is really beneficial for me, and I'm going to suck it all in like a sponge! So I am grateful for the Lord's plan for me, and how everything seems to work itself out and it all fits together like one big puzzle.

Why Do Doctor's Do That?

Well as if I haven't had enough fun being sick this pregnancy with nausea and my sinus problems, I now have acid reflux. OH JOY! So I was feeling pretty fantastic from about 14 weeks on finally over my nausea and doing what I wanted and then last weekend BAM! Literally everything I ate made me puke. So all last week I was miserable..couldn't keep anything down, and was so weak from not being able to keep anything down I thought I was going to have to go to the hospital! But my Daddy gave me a blessing which immediately made me feel better, just another faith building experience that strengthened my adoration and testimony of the Priesthood. Then yesterday I had an appointment with my doc to figure out what the heck was wrong.
So I go in and he figures out I have acid reflux, (again...oh joy!), but I can take Zantac morning and night, which has helped me out already so I love it. So then I asked him the list of questions that I think of everyday, which he kindly and patiently answered, some he actually laughed at haha but hey I felt they were legitimate questions! And then I asked him "Hey am I gaining enough weight? I have been so sick these first few months I don't know if I am gaining enough." and without a hestitation or even looking up from his clipboard he says nonchalantly: "Actually...you're on the high side." Can you say OUCH? I mean I know I'm pregnant and should be gaining weight but when my doctor tells me I'm already overweight it HURTS! I'm 18 weeks and I thought 11 pounds to gain really wasn't a whole lot but apparently it is! So last night I was all hurt and upset about it, but today I woke up with determination to not feel bad about it at all. Because hey, I am pregnant buddy! And I work out reguarly, eat healthy and have not been pigging out on junk I'm really trying to be good here, so apparently these 11 pounds is what my body naturally healthily needed! And if it's what the baby needs I have no problem with being "a little on the high side".
So tonight at my twice weekly power pump aerobics class which is my absolute favorite I was just working up a sweat and I could feel the baby loved it too cuz it was kicking up a storm, and I just felt totally content with where I am right now!
Don't get me wrong..my doctors are GREAT! I know he didn't say that to hurt my feelings or anything, but I just find it funny that Doctors just have that way of saying the most hurtful hilarious things without batting an eyelash!

So anyone who wants to have a salon pedicure at home for the bottoms of your feet anyways, buy this product! I got mine at Walgreen's, so I'm sure it's alot of places!
