Summer Better Than Others
This Summer has certainly started off with a bang! Memorial Day weekend we got to drive up to Philly to see one of my dearest high school friends Jenna get married! The wedding was actually in New Jersey, so we drove up to Jenna's parents house in my hometown of Wallingford, Pa and then followed their limo to the country club. I had never been to a non Mormon wedding before and it certainly did not disappoint! Other than it being like an oven outside, everything was beautiful. Jenna and George shared sweet vows with each other, and boy did she look hot in her dress, she is one of the few women who can pull off a strapless gown.
After the ceremony there was a cocktail hour with some of the greatest finger foods I have ever tasted! Then dinner was right after and the reception. Calvin got a bit scared by the music from the DJ, but lots of older ladies there gladly took Calvin off our hands for a while! Calvin was seriously the life of the party, and sooo many people came up to talk to us about him or just to talk to him! I was in line to get some drinks and this woman came up to me who I hadn't talked to and said "OHH I just wanted to tell you how adorable your baby boy is!" I didn't even have Calvin with me, she must have just seen us earlier. I couldn't agree more though :)
We ended up skipping out early because Calvin was getting terribly tired, but I was so glad I got to see Jenna and George finally tie the knot!
After we left, Jess and I thought "hey, we are 30 miles from Atlantic City, why not spend the night there??" BAD IDEA! So we got there around 10:30, and soon discovered that Memorial Day weekend is the worst weekend to try and stay there because the cheapest room available anywhere was $450! NO thank you! So, after trying several hotels and casinos, we decided to just drive back to Philly and stay the night there. We found a Bank of America toll on our GPS to get money to pay for all the stupid tolls on the way back, and eventually found a hotel to our liking around 12:30 in Philly and then promptly passed out!
Sunday morning we got up and headed to Geno's! MMM...even thinking about their cheesesteaks now is making my mouth water! If you're ever in Philly, don't listen to anyone but me (a true Philadelphian, ha!) that Geno's is the better than Pat's hands down! But, you can try both if you prefer! We ate around noon and then headed to South Street, one of my favorite places to shop! And we're lucky we hit Geno's when we did, because when we came back to our car around 3 ish, the line was over 2 hours long!!! Yikes!
What a fun weekend! And the fun didn't stop in Philly! Memorial Day Jess and all the sales lads worked half a day, and we had a fun BBQ by the pool. The weather was a tad rainy, but we still made it work and had fun! After all the food we had an intense volleyball tournament that lasted well after the sun went down and no-one could even see the ball! Good times, and this was just one weekend!
2 holla backs:
Your pictures of Philly make me miss it! I may just have to take a trip back out there sometime... I loved Geno's with Cheez Wiz (Thanks for recommending it last summer!!!)
Ahh, philly!! My arteries don't miss the cheese steak. My temper doesn't miss philly customer service. But my heart misses crossing the South Street bridge and looking at Center City.
